STAYING SAFE WHEN YOU PARK

K.I.S.S. What is kiss? it’s a pneumonic for keep it simple, safe.

This simple word has a wide range of applications when keeping yourself self and out of trouble while parking your car, examples include

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Plan your journey and tell people where you are going.
Don’t allow strangers in your car or pick up strangers.
Try to avoid driving down unlit roads or alleys.
Don’t speed.
Don’t drink drive or use drugs check any medication you are on as prescription drugs could effect your driving.

KEEP IT SAFE

Wear seatbelts.
When you park your car park near exits so you can escape easily.
If strangers are around your car don’t get out.
Keep your doors locked while driving around towns and especially at traffic lights.
Don’t leave valuables on the seats.
Try to park in a lit area, at night time park under a street light if possible and near to houses for you to run to if needed.
Keep a mobile with you for assistance.
When returning to your car get your keys ready so you can get in to your car quickly in case you are followed.

SELF DEFENCE AND AWARENESS

Be aware of your surroundings and environment.
Carry a hairbrush, pen, and hairspray for self-defence.
Don’t put yourself in compromising positions.
Think!!! Don’t take risks.
Look for unknown hazards.
